Important follow up information regarding the ImPACT testing your players took and the protocol if a suspected concussion occurs.
Please read the Documents located below pertaining to concussions provided by the CDC. We are following their recommendations regarding suspected concussions and ask that you familiarize yourselves with these recommendations.
Please note that if a player is removed from play they will need to be evaluated by a healthcare provider and will not be able to participate again in practice or games until a health care professional says that they are symptom-free and releases the player to return to play with written documentation (Links are located below) that will need to be provided to the coach.
Coaches, please work with your manager to make sure that this documentation gets scanned and emailed to the proper person at MYSA or the player may not be able to participate at the next game. Also note, the Possible Concussion Notification will need to be filled out, signed by player, parent and team official and emailed to MYSA. This information, including the email address for MYSA, is in the Game Day Procedure for Teams info in your team book.
If you are a parent and you have a healthcare provider evaluate your player for a suspected concussion, PLEASE let that provider know that a baseline ImPACT test was done on that player. The ImPACT retake will be directed by the provider that evaluates the player following an injury.
As with all injuries, whether they happen during the season or not, parents are responsible for communicating the extent of that injury to the COACH and that parent along with their health care provider are the ones who will decide when a player will return to play and at what level they should be participating. It is not the coach’s decision.
